Description

Roero DOCG Santa Margheria 2022 by Cornarea is a 100% Nebbiolo that beautifully expresses the authentic character of the Roero hills. The grapes are sourced from the Santa Margheria vineyard, located in the estate's historic cru in Canale, where sandy and clay-rich soils, naturally rich in magnesium, impart elegance, minerality and remarkable ageing potential. The wine is aged for 18 months in large oak casks, followed by at least 6 months of bottle ageing, preserving the varietal character and balance of the wine. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet is complex and refined, offering aromas of violet, plum and black cherry, complemented by spicy notes of liquorice and delicate balsamic hints of eucalyptus. On the palate, it is warm, harmonious and savoury, supported by fine, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and persistent, with lingering notes of wild berry jam and a distinctive mineral character. An excellent companion to roasted and grilled red meats, game dishes, traditional Piedmontese boiled meats and aged cheeses. Serve at 18°C. Thanks to its structure, freshness and elegant tannins, it has an ageing potential of 10–15 years.

In the half 70s years, Piero Bovone and Francesca Rapetti decided to plaint again an old and almost dead white vineyard: the...
