The Alte Rebe Riesling of Falkenstein is an intense white wine typical of South Tyrol, that is made with Riesling grapes grown in vineyards located between 600 and 900 meters above sea level. With a beautiful luminous golden color, in the nose it has a wide and aromatic bouquet with hints of ripe yellow fruit, ginger and white pepper. In the mouth it confirms its aroma and it is mineral, sapid, well structured and balanced. The Riesling Alte Rebe of Falkenstein is perfect to drink in combination with fresh fish appetizers, seafood risotto or spring courses with asparagus.
The Falkenstein cave springs up in 1995, when Bernardette and Franz Pratzner decide to abandon the fruits plantation in order to devote themselves in wines. Franz began to be interested in the 7 hectares that surrounded the Falkenstein estate, situated in the locality of Naturno, in Venosta Valley. Nowadays Franz produces mostly Riesling, a kind of wine that, during the manufacturing, requires diligence and attention: it develops in a territory rich of mineral sails and it can also pride a good exposition. In addition to this wine, the cave produces white Pinot, Sauvignon, Gewurtztraminer, too. Franz and his partners are engaged in aid of the variety that everybody has placed in the centre of the cave’s philosophy: in this manner they respect the climate conditions of the area, too, by discovering the different secrets of nature.
