Sauvignon Falkenstein Private Reserve 2013

The Sauvignon of Falkesteinis a superb white wine cultivated in the vineyards in the north of the Val Venosa in South Tyrol. It has a long aging: for 10 months it remains in large acacia barrels and then a further 5 years in bottle. On view, it shows a straw yellow color with greenish nuances, while when in the glass it gets off scents of medicinal grass, pineapple, lychee and passion fruit in combination in addition to mineral notes. In mouth, it emits fresh aromas of green herb and green pepper; fresh an equilibrated, with a good persistence on the final, it is perfect to drink with first courses, grilled fish and pork meat.

The Falkenstein cave springs up in 1995, when Bernardette and Franz Pratzner decide to abandon the fruits plantation in order to devote themselves in wines. Franz began to be interested in the 7 hectares that surrounded the Falkenstein estate, situated in the locality of Naturno, in Venosta Valley. Nowadays Franz produces mostly Riesling, a kind of wine that, during the manufacturing, requires diligence and attention: it develops in a territory rich of mineral sails and it can also pride a good exposition. In addition to this wine, the cave produces white Pinot, Sauvignon, Gewurtztraminer, too. Franz and his partners are engaged in aid of the variety that everybody has placed in the centre of the cave’s philosophy: in this manner they respect the climate conditions of the area, too, by discovering the different secrets of nature.
