CONTRADA R Passopisciaro 2018

The Contrada R of Passopisciaro is a noble and elegant Sicilian red wine, produced with 100% of Nerello Mascalese grapes from the centenary vines of the Contrada Rampante on the slopes of Etna, located at over 1000 meters above sea level. Thanks to the particularity of the microclimate, to the soil rich in lava and to the 18 months aging in large oak barrels, the wine that is obtained is very concentrated and complex. With a beautiful ruby red color, in the nose Contrada R Passopisciaro develops pleasantly mineral and fruity aromas, with hints of violet and cherry. The taste is juicy, fresh, elegant and fine, characterized by a persistent and tannic finish. The Contrada R of Passopisciaro is ideal to drink in combination with succulent red meat main courses or aged cheeses.

The Passopisciaro winery is one of the properties of Andrea Franchetti, made from the renovation of an ancient “baglio” on the slopes of Etna, in the city of Castiglione di Sicilia. Thanks to the sunny climate and the excellent temperature range, excellent wines are produced mainly based on Nerello Mascalese.
