The Carricante is a very old native vine variety and it is the most common white vine variety in the province of Catania. This vine variety has its origin and its area of greatest diffusion on the slopes of the Etna. The Carricante, if well cultivated and with a good vinification, produces a great white wine of long duration. Typically, the Carricante wine has a straw yellow colour with bright green reflections.

Until the last century it was amply coltivate in all the Island, but the inclination to product more colored,alcholic and structured wines, pushed the wine maker to reduce gradually the application.
