Barbera d’Alba Monbirone by Monchiero Carbone is a powerful, elegant and textured wine. It is made with 100% Barbera grapes coming from the namesake vineyard in Canale, whose plants were planted over 40 years ago. In the glass it is tipically deep and dark ruby red with purple shades. The bouquet is intense and juicy, with hints of ripe cherry and plum, besides cocoa, spices and brushwood. The sip is powerful, extremely fresh and persistent. The aftertaste is long, harmonious and well balanced between fruity and ageing scents. Barbera d'Alba Monbirone by Monchiero Carbone is recommended with braised and stewed meat, cold cuts, matured cheese.
Situated in Canale and in the heart of the Roero area, Monchiero Carbone winery has been founded in 1987. Marco Monchiero, a well-known enologist, and his wife Lucetta Carbone decided to unite the plots of their two families, who began to make wine at the beginning of 1900 and stopped a few years ago. The production of wine restarted in 1990, also because of the son Francesco who began to have enological studies. In the last years, the estate has grown up, thanks to the implantation of new vineyards: one of Arneis grapes on the Renesio hill, in Canale, and another one of nebbiolo grapes in the Anime hamlet. Mombirone and Printi vineyards, which are families propriety from many years, has been doubled.
