Brilliant ruby red
Floral and fruity
Fresh and balanced
Roero DOCG by Gabriele Cordero is a structured red wine made from selected 100% Nebbiolo grapes, cultivated in the Barbarini vineyard, characterized by sandy soils with a modest clay content, typical of the hills of Roero. About a month before harvest, a selective thinning is performed to promote aromatic concentration. At the time of harvest, only clusters that meet specific qualitative criteria are selected; approximately 10% of these are destined for winemaking with whole-cluster maceration. The aging process takes place in wood: used French oak barriques with light toasting are used, chosen specifically not to interfere with the wine's organoleptic profile but to utilize the micro-oxidative effect of the wood. The aging period in barriques lasts about 18 months, followed by an additional 6 months in the bottle before release. The label features a stylized representation of Roero, understood not just as a winemaking area but as a rich and diverse ecosystem. The vine depicted bears fruits that are not only grape clusters but also corn cobs, hazelnuts, and peaches, symbols of the region's key crops. This serves as a visual tribute to the biodiversity that has always defined the landscape and identity of Roero.
In the glass, it presents a ruby red color with evolving garnet reflections. The nose is fine and complex, with notes of cherry, strawberry, wilted rose, tobacco, and subtle balsamic hints. On the palate, it is characterized by remarkable elegance and good structure, with silky tannins, balanced acidity, and a persistent finish. Known for its excellent aging potential, Roero DOCG by Gabriele Cordero is perfect when paired with roasts, braised meats, game birds, and aged cheeses.
