More info

The Derthona by Vietti is a white wine produced with 100% Timorasso grapes, an ancient native vine originating from Piedmont. The first vintage dates back to 2018 and represented something new for the Vietti company: a very mineral wine which is now highly appreciated by the winemaking public. In the glass it presents a beautiful intense yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose is fruity, with notes of peach and pear, in addition to floral notes of hawthorn and acacia flowers. Mineral and hydrocarbon notes stand out after a brief refinement in the bottle. In the mouth it is soft, warm, with an excellent balance between freshness and persistence. The Timorasso Derthona by Vietti is perfect in combination with classic raw meat, cured meats, white meats and medium-aged cheeses. Its excellent aging potential makes it perfect with more structured flavors after 2-3 years of rest in the bottle.

The oenological history of Vietti's cave goes back up the end of 800, when Carlo Vietti gave birth to a winery in the territory of Castiglione Falletto, in the province of Cuneo: the first bottle of Vietti's Barolo comes from 1873. After the death of Carlo, his son Mario and then the son-in-law of this last enter the cave: Alfredo Currado, the son-in law of Mario is oenologist since 1952 and he managed the winery with his wife Luciana. Both passionate of art, they have decided to create the Wine’s collection with Author Labels. Since 1983 the cave is passed in the hands of Mario Cordero, the son-in-law of Alfredo, who, after some experiences in Europe, has decided to give the management of the winery to Luca Currado. In 2016 the historic winery was acquired by Krause Holdings, enabling Luca and his wife Elena, always at the head of Vietti brand, to add a number of prized crus to the estate’s holdings, and be able as a result to look to a future with new, stimulating prospects.
