More info

The Dolcetto of the Borgogno winery is an excellent interpretation of the vine variety of Piedmont, made with grapes grown in the Barolo area, a small village located in the heart of the Langhe hills. After a short four months refinement, the wine shows an intense ruby red color and a fruity bouquet, with hints of blueberry and cherry. Fresh, well balanced and with a good persistence, it is a perfect wine to drink with first courses such as pasta with amatriciana sauce or cannelloni, grilled meat and sausage, or in combination with well-seasoned cheeses.

The cave was founded by Bartolomeo Borgogno in 1761: the history of this cave and of its wines is strictly connected with 1861, year of Italy’s Unity, in fact for the celebratory lunch was used the Borgogno’s Barolo. Cesare Borgogno manages the cave in 1920: he was able to forget some wines of the cave: in this manner the best Barolo’s wines began to be piled in the cave. Today the Borgogno’s cave produces only traditional wines of Piedmont, and it manages to produce more then 60 000 bottles every year.
