Historical wine of the cave produced in Castello di Nipozzano, situated near Florence. According to an old belief, Nipozzano means “without shaft” and it refers to these soils that today as in the past are poor of water, even if they are perfect for the vineyards’ cultivation. This wine presents a purple colour with some nuances , while its bouquet us fruited with hints of plum, currant and under wood, spices, vanilla, green pepper and coffee. This wine owns a dry taste, good structure persistence, and pleasant freshness: it is perfect in combination with salami, Typical cheese of this region, called the pecorino sardo and the traditional T-bone steak.
The first wine’s production of this cave goes back up the year 1300 in the Estate of Castiglioni in Pesa Valley, in Firenze. From the beginning, the Marchesi de Frescobaldi are famous for the quality and the typicalness of their wines, in fact some artists as Donatello were attracted by these wine makers. Today the wine makers of this cave believe in the respect of the territory, by investing in the competence of human resources.
