Barthenau Vigna S. Urbano Pinot Nero by J. Hofstätter is one of the finest expressions of the noble French grape in Italy, cultivated in the historic Barthenau Cru in Mazon, Alto Adige. The vineyard boasts vines over 55 years old, deeply rooted in a terroir that lends the wine its complexity and depth. The grapes are hand-harvested with great care, placed in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for about 12 months in small French oak barrels, followed by another 12 months in large oak casks, allowing the flavors to mature and harmonize naturally. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. The bouquet unfolds gradually, revealing an elegant and layered aromatic profile: notes of black cherry, ripe raspberry, delicate balsamic hints, and fine spices, all complementing the classic varietal character of Pinot Noir. On the palate, it is well-balanced and structured, with silky tannins and a long, refined finish. With its exceptional aromatic concentration and remarkable aging potential, this is a wine of depth and distinction, ideal for contemplation or pairing with sophisticated dishes. Recommended pairings: Red meats, game, roasted dishes, and aged cheeses.
