Deep ruby red
Refined and captivating
Velvety and enveloping
Pinot Nero Riserva Mazon is an excellence from Alto Adige, produced by the renowned Tenuta J. Hofstätter. The grapes come from the Mazon plateau, considered Italy’s "grand cru" for Pinot Noir: here, the thermal variations, constant ventilation, and mineral-rich soils give rise to a red wine of extraordinary finesse, aromatic depth, and aging potential. The winemaking process is carried out with great care: the hand-harvested grapes are destemmed and fermented in concrete tanks with periodic pump-overs. Maceration lasts for about 10 days, with the skins remaining in contact with the must to extract aromas, color, and tannins. The wine is then aged in barriques, concrete vats, and several months in the bottle to ensure complexity and a unique style. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color, enriched with garnet highlights. On the nose, it releases elegant notes of underbrush, small red fruits, sour cherries, and hints of sweet spices, offering a refined and captivating bouquet. On the palate, it is round, velvety, and enveloping, warm and harmonious. Balanced and velvety, it is characterized by a fine yet solid texture, leading to a long and refined finish. Pinot Nero Riserva Mazon by Tenuta Hoftatter pairs perfectly with dishes based on red meats, roasts, lamb, and game, enhancing the flavors of richer, more savory preparations. It also goes well with noble poultry, aged cheeses, and dishes made with porcini mushrooms, offering an ideal balance between elegance and structure. Best served at 16–18 °C to fully appreciate its aromatic and taste nuances; with several years of bottle aging, the wine gains additional structure and depth.
