Freisa d'Asti "Luna di Maggio" doc Cascina Gilli 2017

The "Luna di Maggio" of Cascina Gilli is a red wine made by Freisa grapes grown on the hills of Castelnuovo Don Bosco. Sparkling wine with an intense ruby ​​red colour, at nose it is characterized by pleasant fragrances of blackberry and black currant. On the palate, it comes fresh, with a good flavour in an aftertaste of roses and violets. It is delicious if tasted with typical Piedmontese cold cuts, pasta with ragout and white meats.

The Cascina Gilli, set in a historic building dating back to the 1700s, is located in Castelnuovo don Bosco, in the Asti province. Giovanni Vergnano, who has been managing Cascina Gilli since the beginning of the 1980s, thanks to his foresight he has managed to recover historic vines such as Freisa, Bonarda and Malvasia. The cellar is modern and technological, built in the basement to minimize environmental impact. Nowadays, Cascina Gilli, whose vineyards extend over twenty hectares of land, is recognized as one of the most important wineries in the Basso Monferrato.
