More info

The Rosso di Montalcino of Mastrojanni is an intense and noble wine produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes, cultivated in the district of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, in vineyards located between 200 and 400 meters above sea level. The Rosso di Montalcino of Mastrojanni in the glass shows a beautiful bright ruby red color and a composite bouquet with hints of ripe red fruit, black pepper and vanilla. The taste is intense, full-bodied, warm and characterized by a good balance, an intense tannic texture and a persistent finish. The Rosso di Montalcino of Mastrojanni is an important wine that combines perfectly with tasty main courses based on meat, such as roasted veal with potatoes or well-aged cheeses.

Manufacturer

The history of the Mastrojanni winery began in 1975, the year in which the Roman lawyer Gabriele Mastrojanni decided to buy the San Pio and Loreto estates in Montalcino district. At that time there were still few wine producers in this area; he had set a goal to produce the best wine of Montalcino. In the 90s his son Antonio joined the company and chose Maurizio Castelli as enologist. The Mastrojanni wines were distinguished for their elegance and refinement since their first vintages produced, as well as for their high quality standard. Even today, the company believes and still complies with strict criteria for grape harvesting and for processing in the cellar. 2008 was an important year because the company was acquired by Illy Group spa:  despite the change of ownership the company’s philosophy and the quality of the wines produced are not changed.
