Gorgona by Marchesi Frescobaldi is a unique wine, the result of a social project launched in August 2012 through the collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the beautiful prison island located within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Thanks to this project, inmates who spend the final part of their sentence here can work in close contact with nature, gaining skills and experience that will help facilitate their reintegration into society. Gorgona wine comes from a small vineyard planted with Vermentino and Ansonica grapes, which today covers an area of two hectares. The vineyard is cultivated by the inmates of the penitentiary, with the collaboration and supervision of Frescobaldi’s agronomists. The result is an extraordinary wine, a symbol of hope and freedom. Gorgona 2024 is an elegant and Mediterranean-style wine. In the glass it shows a beautiful straw yellow color with golden reflections, bright and transparent. On the nose it stands out for its complex and intense bouquet: aromas of broom and honeysuckle emerge, followed by notes of ripe exotic fruit and citrus such as bergamot and cedar, accompanied by hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate it is savory, fresh and long. Very persistent, complex and intense, it impresses with its precise correspondence between aromas and flavors. Gorgona 2024 by Marchesi Frescobaldi is a rare white wine with great personality, perfect to accompany fish dishes, vegetable appetizers, shellfish and refined seafood cuisine.
